A true native Windows app

VFL Toolkit for Windows is a dedicated native application — not a web app in a wrapper — carrying the same feature set as the Apple apps: every calculator and worksheet, pretrial motions and deadline templates, equitable distribution, the GAL workspace, document generation, billing and trust accounting, and trial preparation.

It shares the same design language as the Apple apps, secures the app with Windows Hello, and stores matter data locally on the PC — the same local-first architecture as every other platform. Questions about rolling it out at your firm? Email us.

How a mixed Mac + Windows firm works

VFL Toolkit is local-first: each person's matters live on their own device, not on a server we operate. Firms work together by syncing through the firm's own Dropbox — the same way Mac, iPad, and iPhone already share matters today.

• Each platform is a real native app. The Apple apps run on iOS, iPadOS, and macOS; the Windows app runs natively on Windows. There is no shared web server holding your client data.
• Dropbox is the bridge. A managing attorney connects the firm's Dropbox and shares individual matters by a teammate's Dropbox email. Mac, Windows, iPad, and iPhone users on the firm all read and write the same matter folders from their own devices.
• The firm coordinates through the managing attorney. The managing attorney sets up the firm, invites teammates, and manages seats, regardless of which devices the team uses.

Your data, synced safely

VFL Toolkit's cross-device and firm sharing run through your own Dropbox account, using two-way (bidirectional) sync:

• Your files stay in your Dropbox. We do not host a copy of your matter data and do not operate a developer server for sync or sharing.
• On-device security. Matter data is stored on each device; sign-in tokens are kept only in the device's secure store (Keychain on Apple devices, the operating system's credential store on Windows). We never receive your Dropbox password.
• Multi-user by matter. You grant access one matter at a time, so each teammate sees only the matters you share with them. Remove access and their copy stops syncing — files already in your Dropbox are unaffected.

Use Dropbox safely: protect your Dropbox account with a strong password and two-factor authentication, share matters only with people authorized to see them, and remove access promptly when someone leaves the firm.

Subscriptions across platforms

Subscriptions are handled separately on each platform, by that platform's store:

• On Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac), VFL Toolkit subscriptions — including a firm's additional attorney and paralegal/legal-assistant seats — are purchased and managed through the Apple App Store, billed to the managing attorney's Apple ID. You manage, change, or cancel them in your Apple account settings.
• On Windows, the Windows app offers its own subscription handled on that platform, billed and managed there.
• For a mixed firm, the managing attorney maintains the firm subscription on whichever platform they use, and teammates work under the firm's sharing on their own devices. Because Apple and Windows process payments independently, plan to manage each platform's subscription in that platform's store.

The Windows app and its subscription are separate from the Apple App Store and are not a way to change or avoid an Apple subscription.
